Hello all, Welcome to my page! I have been working with children and their families for the past 30 years; developing, running and implementing art programs. My background is in Fashion, Early Childhood Education and Child and Youth Work.
Fifteen years ago I was introduced to pottery by the wonderful and talented Guida Pirita @theagorastudio. Since then I have been creating hand build, thrown and raku pieces. I feel like I am still in my exploratory stage: observing and learning through trial and error. My experience in this field covers a diverse range of needs and exceptionalities. Including but not limited to: Cortical Vision Impairments, Angelman’s & Charge Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, students with Acquired Brain Injuries and hearing impairments. I am familiar with the use of various augmentative devices, and am a strong advocate for students' needs to communicate.
My goal is to introduce students to the art of clay through enriching projects everywhere I go.
Here are the facilities where I run art and pottery programs:
-
Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital
-
Varley Art Gallery
-
Latcham Art Gallery Stouffville
-
Participation House for Seniors
-
Sunrise Montessori School
-
Village Pottery and Art Studio
-
OMA school for children with Autism
-
York Regional School Board and and Toronto Catholic School Board
My true passion is fostering creativity in all individuals. It is my goal to provide a comfortable space where participants feel the freedom to create. The joy that appears on the faces of children to seniors, able bodies and those with exceptionalities when a piece has been created, is one I hope to witness for many years to come.
